Where
Was God?
The
devastating earthquake in Haiti has seen a massive outpouring of
support from many nations. It also leads many to ask, once again,
where was God in all this? How could a loving God allow such
suffering to fall on one of the poorest countries of earth?
Inevitably, Bible believing
Christians seek to make some sense out of all this. Across the
centuries three or four positions have evolved.

Cops,
Kids and Felix Jones
“I
have sixteen grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren.

without being threatened or abused or shot at

what Christians do best. And it’s an uphill battle.”
Quiet,
soft-spoken Felix Jones of the “Cops and
Clergy Network” in the Inland Empire of Southern
California east of Los Angeles leads a faith-based
initiative that began in November 1998.
It is an association between the various police
and sheriffs departments, participating churches
and community organizations.

Paul's
Christmas Message?
Tucked
away in quiet dignity near the heart of the majestic Book of Romans
lies what I like to call Paul’s Christmas Message.
The Gospel writers Matthew
and Luke have theirs – sometimes called the Birth or Infancy
Narratives. The Queen Of England will have hers. No doubt the Prime
Minister and the U.S. President will have theirs. So why shouldn’t
Paul?
It is sometimes fun to play
the “what if” game. For example, what might that contagious
Gospel communicator, the apostle Paul, the best missionary the
church has ever had, how might he approach the Christmas season if
he were here today?
